In Q1 2023, investment in UK Build-to-Rent has surpassed £1.1 billion, indicating that investors are keen to explore opportunities in the sector due to the rising demand for rentals.

In March 2023, Kosy Living reported that the number homes available to rent in the UK dropped by one third over the past 18 months. Zoopla's recent data also confirmed the demand for properties has risen to 50% above 'normal levels'.

According to BNP Paribas Real Estate's recent analysis, the BTR sector has experienced a significant resurgence, following total volumes in 2022 amounting to approximately £4.3bn. The analysis shows that around 75-80% of the investment activity in Q1 2023 was directed towards suburban areas outside London including Manchester and Birmingham, and single-family housing. However, the research has also observed an increase in interest in London and its commuter belt for new investors seeking out less risky locations.
