Kosy Living (BTR)

Kosy Living also represents our Build to Rent (BTR)  portfolio which is a sector that is growing rapidly across the UK. Similar to Kosy Co Living, we are committed to building inspiring living spaces in sought-after locations for people to call home.

BTR is a rapidly growing sector across the UK with over 140,000 BTR homes either being constructed or going through the planning system. Around 81% of these BTR homes are located within the 20 major cities that the government has increased their housing targets.

Analysis of the sector has also proven that the BTR sector is an affordable housing option for people in the UK. In fact,  BTR residents are a diverse mix in both urban and suburban areas who are very similar to tenants within the Private Rented Sector (PRS) in terms of age, affordability, income and profession. In terms of income, 32% of BTR and 37% of PRS residents earn between £19,000 to £32,000 per annum. Housing that is classed as affordable by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) means that the tenants spend 30% of their income on rent.

BTR offers renters so much more for their monthly rent than just a home. Around 78% of schemes offer a shared garden or roof terrace within the development, around 73% have their very own concierge, 69% have access to extra storage and 61% have a co-working space within the development.  Both the BTR and the PRS sectors have around the same amount of tech creatives within their developments but BTR also has around one in five tenants working within the public sector. Whilst one in four of tenants in both BTR and PRS are aged between 25 to 34 years old, BTR is increasing its volume of tenants of 45 years and above, proving that it is a developing sector for that age bracket.

BTR is also expanding into suburban areas too, offering high quality professionally managed homes for everyone but especially to families. Around 43% of all suburban tenants are made up of families. BTR developments are becoming an important part of the overall housing mix in the UK as they offer a variety of amenities included in their monthly rent. Therefore the tenants are getting more value for their money.
