Kosy Unveils Exciting Vision for Innovative Co Living Community in Bath

Eve Thomson • June 26, 2023

The multi-use scheme will be the first-of-its-kind in the area. Kosy Co Living aims to provide a dynamic and sustainable living experience, incorporating co working spaces, new and improved retail and workshop units for the existing businesses, and significant enhancements to two key public underpasses connecting Wells Road with the City Centre.

The visionary plans include the incorporation of over 400m2 of employment floorspace on the ground level, with three upper floors offering 77 spacious co living studios. These studios will be complemented by impressive communal amenity spaces, fostering a strong sense of community and social interaction among residents. Additionally, a dedicated amenity area on the rooftop level will provide a unique space for exercise, relaxation, and leisure.

In line with Kosy Co Living's commitment to ESG, the proposed development will utilise high-quality and locally sourced materials, including the renowned Bath Stone. The contemporary design approach seamlessly blends the historic uses and character of the area, preserving the architectural heritage whilst embracing modern living.

The revamp of the public passageways next to the site will provide safer and more attractive routes in and out of the city centre for all with significant enhancements.

Kosy Co Living is a great option for those working in Bath who are looking for a modern, convenient and cost-effective way to live in the city centre with bills and co working included.

Bath, like many other UK cities, is experiencing a housing shortage, with a particular demand for studios.

Toby Martin, General Manager of award-wining letting agent Reside Bath said:

"We are seeing overwhelming demand for one-bed and studio apartments to rent in Bath, and sadly the supply of properties to the market is currently nowhere near sufficient. It is a particularly challenging time for young professionals and recent graduates to secure rental property, as this is where demand and therefore competition for property is highest."

Residents will benefit from exceptional amenities, including a free gym membership to the in-house health and wellness facility. The building will be staffed around the clock by a dedicated team, ensuring the highest level of service, security, and comfort for everyone.

Environmental stewardship is a key pillar of Kosy Co Living's ethos. The design team has meticulously considered futureproofing, adaptability, and sustainability throughout the planning process. The building will be equipped with heat source pumps and a solar PV energy system, harnessing renewable energy sources to minimise the carbon footprint of the building. In addition, bespoke landscaping initiatives are being explored to enhance biodiversity.

The new co living community is in an exceptional location in Bath and is therefore designed to be "car-free," with only three parking bays available for loading/deliveries, disabled badge holders, and one electric car, which can be booked by residents. The emphasis on sustainability is further highlighted by the provision of indoor cycle storage for every resident, encouraging a healthy and environmentally friendly lifestyle.

The proposed development reflects Kosy’s commitment to elevating the standard of modern living whilst prioritising the need for quality, affordability, and environmental responsibility. With its thoughtfully designed spaces, excellent sustainability features, and strong community focus, this development is set to become a benchmark for future co living and multi-use projects in the city.
