Co Living Cardiff

Cardiff is one of Kosy Co Living’s favourite cities. Some of the team originate from Cardiff originally, so naturally, we know the hot spots of the city ideal for Co Living and Build to Rent development sites.

The city is full of young professionals, and we want to provide an opportunity for residents to live with like minded people in an affordable, all bills included development. Our build to rent and co living buildings also offer quality in design, with all amenities included. We see Cardiff as an ideal opportunity to provide a new style of living accommodation that enhances the existing property stock within the area. Co living and build to rent meets the long terms needs of the city.

Cardiff, or Caerdydd as it is known in Welsh, is the capital of Wales and has a population of around 363,000. It is a very popular city for tourists with over 21 million visiting every year. In recent years, it has become very popular for film and television production with lots of dramas such as Sherlock, Doctor Who and Casualty all being filmed here. The Welsh Parliament, called the Senedd, calls Cardiff Bay it’s home, as did singing legend Shirley Bassey when it was known as Tiger Bay. Cardiff Bay has now become home to the BBC Drama Village, Cardiff International Sports Village and a new business district has been created here too. A very creative city, we know our co living model will impress locals, young professionals and post graduates.

Cardiff has undergone huge changes since the beginning of the 21st century, with the scales and heights of the buildings getting bigger and bigger. Both the city centre and Cardiff Bay have witnessed a huge increase in purpose built high rise buildings and they just keep on growing. Young professionals and students are drawn to both areas, as well as Pontcanna, a suburb north of Riverside running alongside Canton. However students mainly reside in Gabalfa, Plasnewydd and Cathays, all close to the universities. There are a multitude of ideal locations for co living that we are currently pursuing.

There are four universities in Cardiff, which makes the city full of domestic and international students. Firstly, the University of Cardiff, a Russell group university and secondly Cardiff Metropolitan University. The University of Wales is also located within the city centre and lastly the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. It is an attractive place to live, and a huge majority of graduates who studied in the city continue to live in here after they finish studying. This is because of the relatively low cost of living and the healthy job market. Living costs are around 18% cheaper than London but accommodation is 37% cheaper than London. Co living also provides an affordable living option, due to its all bills and amenities included offering,

Cardiff is a small, compact city and it is easy to get around. Cars are frowned upon as the city gets quite congested, so walking, public transport or cycling is preferred. This ties in nicely with our car-free co living developments, which provide cycle spaces for each resident instead.

Young professionals and graduates find that Cardiff has the benefit of city living with the perks of major sporting events and concerts but also Cardiff has the smaller buzzier vibe than a larger city would. The CF24 postcode is seen as the postcode most popular with young professionals in the city, just a 15 minute walk into the city centre but also close to the greenery of Roath Park.

Lots of companies have their headquarters in Cardiff, offering great job opportunities to graduates and young professionals. The Welsh Government also runs a graduate job scheme within the city. There are also lots of start-ups based in and around the city who are constantly looking for the young talent that emerges from the four universities located within the city.
