Nottingham is a city that has started to see a flurry of build to rent buildings appear. Nottingham is quite a large city with a population of around 337,000. A brilliant city to live and work, it has a particularly young age structure with 30% of its population aged 18-29. The city boasts two universities with around 60,000 students, and Nottingham is often considered to be one of the best places for a night out in the UK. There is plenty on offer in terms of culture, shopping, restaurants and nightlife, and with great transport links, London can be reached in 1.5 hours. 

There are also some beautiful green areas and parks to enjoy that cover almost 1900 hectares. The Arboretum is within easy reach of the city centre, as well as Colwick Country Park. Parks and open spaces account for 20% of the city land.

Nottingham Could Become a Build to Rent Hub

Nottingham is the East Midlands leading retail, commercial, and financial business centre. It is also home to a large amount of science and research businesses, as well as being the location for various head offices including Boots, Frasers Group, Experian and Capital One (Europe). There are plenty of job opportunities which is why Nottingham is good at retaining graduates. However, like most cities, there is a housing shortage and build-to-rent can be a huge piece of the puzzle in addressing this. 

Nottingham is inevitably a desirable city to live and work. Providing modern and fully furnished build to rent (BTR) apartments with bills included and great amenities will only amplify this and attract more interest, and more graduates to the stay city. Amenities often include a gym, roof terrace and co-working areas.

As our pipeline grows we are looking to forward fund our larger schemes within the build to rent sector. We have commercial property investments build to rent opportunities for forward funding, equity partners, joint ventures, unconditional funding partners and planning uplift partners. We have opportunities for joint ventures with equity partners as we obtain planning permission with a view to sell or re-finance at PC. We are also sometimes presented with great opportunities for developers where the land owner needs an immediate sale and we are looking to partner with investors who would fund this type of project.
