Build-To-Rent Developers Oxford

Kosy Living has Oxford on its radar for our next wave of build to rent developments.  The Good Growth for Cities Index 2022 chose Oxford as the best place to live and work in the UK - considering income, safety, health, skills and new businesses/employment opportunities. 


Oxford is known to have a higher cost of living than other cities, however, there are ample employment opportunities for graduates and professionals, with excellent prospects to further careers. Education is a huge employer in the city, the University of Oxford is one of the oldest and best universities in the world and it has 44 colleges there too. Making it an ideal already established build to rent ecosystem for development.


Oxford is also a major centre for health and biotechnology, car/vehicle manufacturing, publishing, digital-related sectors, tourism and professional services e.g. finance, real estate, insurance etc. There is a great variety of jobs and sectors to work in within the city. 


Oxford is a visually stunning city, with Gothic and Baroque architecture, and buildings dating back all the way to 1020. There is also plenty to do. The city has a vibrant culture and offers a wide-range of sports from rowing and cricket to tennis or rugby, there are plenty of art galleries and museums, and great bars, cafes and restaurants to have a drink in or to dine. There are lots of cycle lanes making it very bike-friendly, and overall the city offers a very nice quality of life. It’s easy to see why graduates would choose to stay in the city, or people decide to move for a job opportunity. 


Build to Rent Still to Take Off in Oxford


Built-to-rent has not taken off yet in Oxford. Despite an ideal demographic and requirement for modern rental homes, only one has been confirmed so far for the city, and there is huge opportunity to provide further units.  We see this as an opportunity to provide high quality build to rent and co living accommodation within Oxford meeting the needs of the community.


Popular areas to live in Oxford include Jericho, a trendy neighbourhood with plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and cafés. Popular with students and young professionals, it offers the best of both rural and urban lifestyles. Furthermore, the small suburb Headington sits on top of a hill overlooking the city, and has often been voted the best area to live. With a vibrant and bohemian vibe, it’s popular with families, students and young professionals due to the amenities it offers, and the proximity to the Oxford centre which can be reached in just 20 minutes. 


There are more suburbs that would work well for build to rent (BTR), as they all offer appealing lifestyles for a variety of renters, whilst also offering great connections to central Oxford and London.

Build to Rent is fast becoming an ever growing sector and Kosy Co Living will be within the heart of it. We launched our portfolio in early 2022, unveiling a £1billion development pipeline. As our pipeline grows we are looking to forward fund our larger schemes within the build to rent sector. We have commercial property investments build to rent opportunities for forward funding, equity partners, joint ventures, unconditional funding partners and planning uplift partners. We have opportunities for joint ventures with equity partners as we obtain planning permission with a view to sell or re-finance at PC. We are also sometimes presented with great opportunities for developers where the land owner needs an immediate sale and we are looking to partner with investors who would fund this type of project.
